Media Advertisement Examples Assignment–Specific to our focus on gender in the media, find two media advertisements, this assignment should be completed after viewing the Jean Kilbourne film. Advertisement #1 should be an example that reinforces Kilbourne’s (Killing Us Softly 4 video) assertions about problematic gender representations. Advertisement #2 should be an example of a more progressive/complex/thoughtful gendered representation(s). Write up a paragraph under each advertisement describing the advertisement (give context/company-product information/etc) as well as what makes it problematic (Ad #1) or progressive (Ad #2). In other words, draw from Kilbourne’s film by identifying one ad that coincides with her analysis in regard to problematic/damaging advertisements and one ad that is a more promising/thoughtful/progessive advertisement and thus provides a more careful treatment of gender dynamics. Drawing from Print Advertising Media or Online Advertising Media is best so that you can paste/scan the ads into a Word file accompanied by your paragraph descriptions.
