Staff Meeting Group
The purpose of this assignment is for you to gain knowledge about how to analyze the preparation, process, content and leadership of a group. Your assignment is to interview a social worker who has developed and facilitated a group (agency committee meeting, in service training meeting, or community coalition or board meeting) that he or she participates in on a regular basis. You are to write a paper approximately 3-4 pages in length that identifies/includes the following: 1. Introduction – Include a brief statement describing the name of the agency/organization and the background/credentials of the facilitator or co-facilitators. 2. Content – Describe the following: The purpose of the group – for whom was the group designed? Is this a support group, a psycho-educational group, a task group meeting? Is the group voluntary? Is the group open or closed? What were some of the group rules? 3. Interpretation – Identify the following: How were the group members recruited and prepared for the group? If it is a task group, how were the members assigned or invited to attend. Did the facilitator identify any relevant cultural or diversity issues in the group process? 4. Impressions – What were the facilitator’s impressions of how the group progressed through the phases of group development? Was the group cohesive? How did the group end? What did the facilitator think worked well? Was the group successful in reaching established goals? Was there anything the facilitator would have done differently?
