Theoretical approach in African American Families

All students will read (2) articles that explain the approach to the critical perspective and ways of thinking about and using this approach to examine phenomena. The articles can be found in the Course Content link in the critical folder. Students will complete the following for this assignment 1. After you read the (2) article, students will write (1) annotated bibliography reviewing the articles. Find and read (2) additional article that takes a critical perspective to study your research topic for your project. At this point, students should have narrowed their choice down to one topic. Write an annotated bibliography for this article as well. Potential questions that should be answered in an annotated bibliography: a. How did the author apply a critical perspective to examining the topic? b. What did they find problematic about the topic and the need to examine it further? Support your answer. c. What concepts, theoretical frameworks, or references did they use that framed the article as critical? Cite your sources. d. In what ways do you agree or disagree with their findings and/or conclusions drawn from their analysis of the topic? Support your answer. 2. In a 2-3 page essay, define what it means to take a critical perspective to study phenomena. Make an argument for a critical approach to studying one of your potential topics of interest for your pre-proposal. Identify 2-3 questions that could be studied from a critical perspective. Minimum of (3) sources. 3. For Paradigm Paper 2, place the annotated bibliography first, essay, reference page.
